IFCPF 2021 Events Update

News

As the situation with the worldwide COVID pandemic continues to evolve and the impact felt across all areas of our lives, the IFCPF Board wishes a safe and positive recovery for all members of the CP Football family and your own families.

IFCPF conducted a member survey to collect feedback and information from across our membership. All functional areas of our organisation also gave their expert guidance as part of the review process, in addition to close consultation with our Local Organising Committees. The IFCPF Board is grateful to all stakeholders who provided a wealth of information to allow us to make a well-informed, member-focused and athlete centred decision.

Decision for events:

The IFCPF Board have therefore come to the very difficult and challenging decision to cancel our 2021 event programme, and support the CP Football family to build and develop strong programmes for the future of the game. With firm foundations and getting domestic programmes back on track, together we can collaborate for a more positive 2022. With this in mind, the 2022 international event programme will be as follows with dates yet to be finalised:

  • 2022 IFCPF Champions League (clubs) – Barcelona, Spain
  • 2022 IFCPF World Cup (male) – Host TBC
  • 2022 IFCPF World Cup (female) - Barcelona, Spain
  • 2022 IFCPF World Championships (male) - Host TBC

Although we have made this decision, we anticipate that smaller international development tournaments may still take place and IFCPF will work with members and LOCs to ensure positive participation and safe events.

Where deemed safe to do so, IFCPF encourages members to hold events at national level to continue participation opportunities for your players or even where agreed, friendly competition between neighbouring countries.  Please note that no ranking points will be awarded for both 2020 and 2021.

Of course as football supporters, we are all disappointed with the situation but we believe that together we can now focus on developing strong national programmes and look forward to a 2022 event programme.

Wishing you good health and positive developments in your country,

Jan-Hein Evers
