Closely fought battle sees Portugal progress to Semi-Finals

In just the 4th minute of the game, Japan's number 5 Taisei Taniguchi hit a wonderful strike from distance, beating the Portuguese keeper to open the scoring. Celebration erupted from the team bench for a brilliant goal. Portugal almost struck back with a quick reply but narrowly missed the target.
Soon after the opening goal, Portugal's Luis Ferreira levelled the score, which took the score as 1-1 until the half-time break.

Mid-way through the second half, Pedro Santos put Portugal in front, looking like they would now control the game until the final whistle. 5 minutes later, Tetsuya Toda replied with a fantastic long range free-kick, and celebrations ensued from the Japanese team as the score was once again level much like the majority of play throughout the game.

In the 58th minute, shortly after joining the game from the bench, Hugo Pinheiro scored to give Portugal the lead and the win to take them through to the Semi-Finals.

Overall, a fantastic display of football from the Japanese team but not quite enough to beat the well organised Portugal team.

Venezuela beats Canada in the penalties

It was probably one of the most exciting matches during the tournament. The match final score at the 60 minutes reflected very well the equalty between both teams.

Canada got some advantage at the 7' thanks to an amazing kick from the Canadian captain Samuel Charron but a very interesting movement and kick from Venezuelas striker Felipe Quintana putted the draw in the score board.

Both teams seeked for the 2nd goal but no one gets it also Venezuela probably had the most clear opportunities.

With the 1-1 the match went to the Over time but no movement in the scoreboard. At the 75' Nic Heffernan was sent off but nothing changed and we went to the penalties.

A final goal from Mogollón and the excellent performance from Venezuelas keeper gave them the victory.

Now Venezuela will play Scotland in the semi finals.
