USA - Argentina

In the second of three placement matches for 5th to 7th place, the United States took on regional rival Argentina. The passionately fought match saw Argentina get on the scoreboard in the third minute with a goal by Matรญas Fernรกndez. Six minutes later, Andrew Bremer answered back for the USA. The evenly matched game then saw Matรญas Fernรกndez get a yellow card in the twenty-second minute, one of seven total yellows given out in the game. The first American yellow was a few minutes later, with Adam Ballou getting one. The first half closed with Argentinaโ€™s Mariano Morano scoring a pair of goals in the span of a minute in the final minutes of the half for the period to end 1 โ€“ 3.

Both sides started the second half with the same energy and intensity. The first goal of the half was an own goal by Argentinaโ€™s Rodrigo Lรบquez, which brought the USA within one. A few minutes later, Andrew Bremer scored his second goal. Then Mariano Cortes drew his second yellow of the game, affording the United States an opportunity for a penalty kick. David Garza capitalized on this opportunity to finally put the United States up 4 โ€“ 3. Argentina was unable to score in the remaining 5 minutes, and the game finished there.
