Super Sรธhoel sees Denmark past Catalonia in first friendly

Five goals from Denmark star Emma Vejby Sรธhoel has powered Denmark to a 5-2 win over Catalonia in the first friendly of two.

The performance included a 13-minute hat-trick to commence proceedings, and following the early goals, Mie Randløv’s team never looked back.

Søhoel’s first was expertly taken; controlling a bobbling ball with ease, she took it under her spell and fired low into the bottom corner to give her team the lead.

The second followed three minutes later, and Denmark’s number seven was again at the heart of it, going on a solo run before slotting the ball home.

An individual piece of brilliance brought up the third, the prospect of a free-kick from beyond halfway not bothering Søhoel, who notched up both her and Denmark’s third.

Despite facing a 3-0 deficit, Catalonia did not let their heads drop, and following a good spell of pressure, Anna Capdevila opened the team’s account from close range.

A second Søhoel set piece from distance made it four after the break, before making it five a few moments later.

As the final seconds of the 50 minutes were ticking by, the Catalonians had one final reason to celebrate, with Tatiana Muñoz finding the bottom corner. While the goal did not change the match’s outcome, the celebrations from the Catalonia team could have easily convinced you otherwise.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow, with kick-off at 11 am. The game will be streamed live on FECPC’s YouTube channel.
