Russia are the 2019 IFCPF World Cup Champions

After the world titles in 2011 and 2007 Russia again win a World competition. In the final of the 2019 IFCPF World Cup they beat Ukraine 3-1. Over 400 people watched the match from the stadium of the Seville Football Club, more than 1,000 watched the match online. This is the second time within a year that Russia beat Ukraine in the final of a major tournament, after they became European Champions in the Netherlands in 2018. Brazil are third in this competition, they won against England 4-1.

It was a fairly evenly matches first half, where Russia opened the score in the 23rd minute. Georgiy Albegov was the one that broke the Ukraine defence. Just before the first half was over Serhii Bedenok scored the equalizer. 


After the break it didn't take long before Russia againt took the advantage, Dmitriy Minenko made it 2-1. The match was dicided by Nika Mirakishvili who scored from up close. Despite some last offences, Ukraine were unable to score. Russia are the 2019 IFCPF World Cup Champions.

Brazil take the bronze

The bronze medal match wasn't as close as the final was, Brazil had the upperhand throughout the whole match. In the first half they scored twice, captain Ubirajara da Silva Magalhaes benefitted from a defensive error from the English in the seventh minute. With a rush through the defence of England he made it 2-0 as well.

Early in the second half the match was over, Hebert Honorio Lemes Ovledo scored the 3-0 and the captain made the deficit four just three minutes later. In the last minute Karl Townshend, who retires from playing after this tournament, made the 4-1, but it was too late to shake the Brazilians. They won the bronze, England end fourth.

Iran finish 5th, Argentina 7th

Iran and USA met for the second time in the competition. In the group stage the victory of USA was a surprise. A very nice match between these two amazing teams that this time finished with a final 4-3 for the Iranians. A last but amazing goal from nº6 Abbas Torabi at the 76 extra time gave the final victory for the Iranians. 


Argentina was too strong for the Netherlands in the race for 7th and 8th place. Cristian Billorde opened the score in the second minute and doubled the score with a goal in the 27 minute. The Netherlands could have returned to the game via a penalty kick, but the keeper stopped the moderately taken penalty. In the last minute, Argentina puts an end to the illusions of the Netherlands by a third goal. End position 0 - 3.

Canadian Samuel Charron was named Player of the tournament. The title for best goalkeeper went to Russia's Guram Chkareuli. He only had to concede 1 goal in the whole tournament.
