Ireland and Netherlands played possibly the best match of the whole competition, aiming for the slot for the 5th and 6th positions match. Ireland scored first right in the beginning of the first half and seem to have the control of the match. But the Dutch team could score three goals before the halftime. The comfortable difference did not affect Ireland, that came to the second half making a huge pressure, getting the tie before the final whistle of the regular time. In the extra-time, Ireland scored again. When all the presents thought the victory would come to the Irish team, the Netherlands tied again, finishing the extra-time in an amazing 4-4. In the penalty kick shootout, the Dutch teams had a better performance (3-1) and won the match. All the ones who could watch it felt a great joy by such a wonderful and thrilling match, played in the best fairplay way possible. With this unforgettable win, the Netherlands will play England for the 5th position in the World Cup. Ireland will play Argentina for the 7th place.
