World Cup groups set after draw

News

The 2026 IFCPF Men's and Women's World Cups have their shape, after 20 nations learned their opponents at the official draw in Atlanta on Friday.

Held at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center — the venue that will host both tournaments in October — the draw set three men's groups and two women's groups for the largest event in IFCPF history.

Twenty nations. Two World Cups. Fifty-six matches. One stage.

The draw saw hosts the USA placed in Group A with near neighbours Canada, in a repeat of the 2025 IFCPF Copa América semi-final, while debutants Indonesia will meet England, Ireland and Japan.

"Today the tournament became real. Twenty nations, two World Cups, one stage and the largest women's competition our sport has ever staged, featuring eight teams from six continents. There are no easy groups. Every team has earned its place. Now they have the opportunity to show the world exactly what CP Football is." -  Ashley Hammond, Chief Executive Officer, IFCPF

Hosts USA anchor Group A alongside Japan, Finland and Kenya. The group features two World Cup debutants, who will both be aiming for their first World Cup win.

Reining World Cup champions Australia will meet Ireland, the Netherlands and Colombia in Group B. Colombia will play at its first World Cup.

Australia open the defence of their world title against Ireland on October 16 . The Netherlands, returning to the Women's World Cup for the first time since 2022, facing Colombia in its opening match.

Indonesia make their Men's World Cup debut in Atlanta, months after hosting the 2025 IFCPF Asia-Oceania Championship, and are grouped with England, Ireland and Japan.

Scotland arrive as reigning IFCPF Men's World Championships winners. Nine of the 12 teams competed at the previous Men's World Cup in Salou, with Indonesia, Chile and Scotland new to this field.
