News

After an action-packed day on Saturday, here are the reports from each of the three games on Match Day One.

URUGUAY 0-15 UNITED STATES

A Shea Hammond goal inside the opening minute set the tone for a strong United States of America performance, defeating Uruguay 15-0.

Hammond's first goal of four came inside 40 seconds, before Jacob Kaplan doubled the lead less than a minute later.

It took another 12 minutes before the Americans breached Uruguay's defences again, Jacob Crumbley's rocket unstoppable at Facundo Echeverría's front post. It kick-started the team back into a goalscoring groove, with Adam Ballou, Ben Lindau, and Hammond (twice) all contributing to the USA lead in short order.

Kaplan, Lindau and Crumbley (twice) all tallied again as the half-time break neared, the score 11-0 at the interval.

Kyle Montgomery's first international goal was a second-half highlight, with Kevin McCandlsh joining Ballou and Crumbley finding the net in the final 30 minutes.

Despite the result, Uruguay's players were roundly applauded off the pitch in their first international match, with Cristian Lastra among those who were emotional after the final whistle. Bruno Viera's leadership was on show, and the celebrations from the Uruguay fans were palpable.

The United States of America will next feature on Tuesday against Argentina, while Uruguay will play the same opponent tomorrow.

BRAZIL 7-0 CANDA

In a match filled with emotion and technical brilliance, Brazil showcased once again why it is a true sporting powerhouse, delivering a resounding 7–0 victory over Canada in their debut at the IFCPF Copa América 2025.

From the opening whistle, the team took full command of the game through organized possession, high pressing, and sharp passing sequences. Felipe Rafael and Vinicius Ribeiro became the main protagonists of the first half: after a brilliant combination between them, Rafael opened the scoring with a precise strike across goal, leaving the Canadian goalkeeper with no chance. The duo proved unstoppable, capping off the first half with a well-taken goal by Ribeiro.

Brazil maintained its rhythm throughout the entire match. In the second half, the Brazilian coach made three strategic substitutions that injected fresh energy into the attack, resulting in three additional goals and sealing the team’s dominance.

Meanwhile, Canada displayed defensive organisation and resilience but struggled to contain Brazil’s pace, precision, and superior technical execution.

With this result, Brazil kicks off the Copa América campaign in commanding fashion, reaffirming once again that Brazil never disappoints.
