Days Four and Five in Solo
NewsWith three matches on Day Four, and one on Day Five, here is a combined recap of the 2025 Asia-Oceania Cup across both days.
Japan start round robin with win, defeat South Korea 3-0
A brace from Kenichiro Akahage powered Japan to its first win of the tournament, beating South Korea 3-0.
Akahage struck just before and after the half-time break to break open the game. His first came after glancing on a header from Yoshiki Kubo, while his second also came from close range.
Tomohisa Ono fired in at the near post in the final ten minutes, working off the right and finishing at the near post.
Indonesia qualify for final, turn over Thailand
Two extra-time goals, including one in each half, have helped Indonesia to the 2025 IFCPF Asia-Oceania Cup Final, defeating Thailand 3-1.
Diky Hendrawan and Rizky Mulyana converted beyond the hour, with Mulyana’s goal coming with three minutes to play to seal the victory.
The game finished 1-1 after normal time, with Narongchai Thaohong answering Hafthah Hans Lindaudi Wicaksono’s earlier strike.
Iran make second-straight regional final, power past Australia
Four first-half goals helped set up Iran’s 2025 Asia-Oceania Cup semi-final success, winning against Australia 4-0.
Amir Mahdi Rahim Abadi scrambled home the first after good work down the left from Mehdi Bakhshi, before Alireza Ahmadimoghadham fired home a second minutes later.
Mehdi Bakhshi made Australia pay for missing multiple gilt-edged chances to make it 3-0, before Amirhossein Ghorbani added a fourth in first-half added time.
The second half was played slower, and aside from Australia debuts for Tomas Scotti and Goki Saito, there was not much for the Aussies to write home about.
South Korea win its first game of tournament, exact revenge on Malaysia
Park Haechol’s late header has given South Korea its first IFCPF regional win, defeating Malaysia 1-0 in the only game of the day.
Just as the game looked to be petering out to a goalless stalemate, Jang Junho’s ball in was met by the number 10, who guided the ball in at the back post.
It marks South Korea’s first win at an IFCPF Asia-Oceania tournament, having lost each game in 2018 and not qualifying in 2023.
Malaysia will host Japan in the final game of the round robin.
