Day Two Recap in Solo

News

Here is a recap of Day Two at the 2025 IFCPF Asia-Oceania Cup.

Wicaksono’s winner sends Indonesia through

Hafthah Hans Linduadi Wicaksono’s first-half winner helped Indonesia to a 1-0 success over Japan, confirming the country’s place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Asia-Oceania Cup.

The strike, a low drive into the bottom left corner after cutting infield, sent the Indonesian fans into raptures, with hundreds of onlookers delighted by the result.

Indonesia will now face the second-placed team in Group B, while Japan will meet Australia in a de facto semi-final for a spot in the final four.

Thailand confirm progression, defeat Malaysia 3-0

Two second-half goals helped seal Thailand’s spot in the final four of the 2025 Asia-Oceania Cup, accounting for Malaysia 3-0 in Solo.

Just as the first-half looked to be ending goalless, a Chanathip Deeman strike was not fully dealt with by goalkeeper Firdaus Bakar, with Abdullah Samat putting the ball into his own net in his attempts to clear.

A clever free-kick from Deeman, aided by the ball bouncing off the back of Bakar, helped make it two, before Narongchai Thaohong notched his first of the tournament to seal the win, firing in at the near post.

Thailand will play Iran to finish their group stage campaign, while South Korea await Malaysia.

Iran make final four, South Korea still goalless in Solo

A hat-trick from Player of the Match Saeid Faraji propelled Iran to its second win of the tournament, a 7-0 success over South Korea.

Moslem Mehrabian opened the scoring, before Faraji added his first minutes later, striking as he was falling backwards in impressive fashion.

Mehrabian got his second of the match in the 25th minute, before a Park Suam own goal made it 4-0 as the half-time interval grew nearer.

A quick Faraji second-half double completed his brace, with Hadi Khoshegbal grabbing the seventh to complete the scoring.

Iran and Thailand will grapple for top spot in Group B next, while South Korea will look for its first positive result against the Malaysians.
