Japan beat Finland 4-1

A young Japan team got the better of Finland in the opening round of this group D contest. The result means Japan join Canada at the top of the group.First half goals from Tetsuya Toda and Tatsuhiro Ura set Japan on their way. Janne Helander gave Finland brief hope with an early second half goal but almost immediately Simo Mykkanen deflected the ball into his own net. Finland pushed hard at Japan to get back in the game but Japanese captain Inoue made sure of the win a goal 2 minutes from time.

Both teams are in action tomorrow with Japan facing the hosts Denmark and Finland taking on group favourites Canada.
